OSC Invite to CNY NSP

OSC NSP

Greetings Patrollers of the CNY Region of the National Ski Patrol!  As a member of the Onondaga Ski Club, I have found that being a member of this organization to be a rewarding experience. I had no idea of all the benefits of membership. The OSC is reaching out to ‘kindred spirits’ on the NSP in our area to see if there might be interest in joining our ranks.

  • On a regular meeting night, Tuesday, November 11th, OSC will host a meet-and- greet for patrollers as part of the meeting and provide an overview of what the club is about.  We meet at Sharkey’s Eclectic Bar & Lounge, Oswego Rd, Liverpool, beginning with a social hour at 7 PM, meeting at 7:30.
  • We are extending an invitation to interested patrollers to join us for a trip we have planned to Ellicottville in January, which is open to non-members.
  • Please see the attached information to see more about the Onondaga Ski Club.
  • Visit our website at www.onondagaskiclub.org
  • Any questions or interested in atending, please feel free to contact me.
  • Its only $20 a year!

Thanks for your time. Regards, Scott Scott Launt

The Onondaga Ski Club organizes and facilitates year-round outdoor activities and social gatherings, for a membership of over 600 people, based in Central New York.

Some of the benefits our members enjoy:

General Meeting:  The 2nd Tuesday of September through April, the OSC holds a General Meeting to let members know about upcoming activities, offer them a chance to sign up for trips and learn more about local mountains.  Guest speakers are often scheduled.  Currently the meeting is held at Sharkey’s Eclectic Bar & Lounge, Oswego Rd, Liverpool, beginning with a social hour at 7 PM, meeting at 7:30.  Guests are welcome.  It’s a great way to find out what’s going on with the club!

The Lodge:  OSC owns and operates The Lodge in Lower Granville, Vermont.  New members can enjoy a free night stay.  Many activities are available when visiting the Lodge including skiing, biking, hiking and local attractions.  For more information, click on the link to ‘The Lodge’ and view the topic of your choice.

Discounts at local, New York State and Vermont ski mountains:  OSC is a member of the New Jersey Ski Council.  As a part of this group, OSC members enjoy discounted lift tickets to ski mountains such as Sugarbush, Killington, Stowe and Whiteface.  To see the complete list and how to order tickets, visit the ‘Hot Deals’ section of the website, click on either ‘OSC Lift Discounts on Mountains Outside CNY’ or the individual links to the local areas.

Ski Trips:  Every year OSC offers ski trips to its members.  Some places our members have visited include Lake Louise, Heavenly, Crested Butte, Big Sky and Park City.  Mt. Tremblant and Stowe are common bus trips in the East.  Cross country trips are also available as well as outings to popular local areas.

Ski Racing:  Team NASTAR is held every Sunday at Labrador Mountain from January through early February.  Teams compete for awards and trophies given at year end.  OSC also sponsors the Onondaga Cup Race held annually in February.

Cycling: Every Wednesday evening from mid-April through September, the club has organized bike rides from various locations throughout Central New York.  Click on ‘Outdoor Activities’, ‘Cycling’ to see the schedule.  Other rides offered during the season include a ride around Oneida Lake and to Kingston Ontario.

Social events:  Book Club – held in the Spring and Fall.  Several books have been read and discussed.  The format usually includes a social hour with dinner followed by discussion of the selected book.

Night on the Town and Happy Hour – held once a month at various venues throughout Central New York.  Each offers a cocktail hour; Night on the Town is followed by dinner and Happy Hour has optional dining for those that want to stay and relax for a while.

Other Outdoor Activities:  Tennis:  held every Monday evening at Sky Top; Golf – Tuesdays at Lyndon Golf Course; Hiking and Kayaking – times and places vary.

Impromptu Activities:  OSC is a very busy group.  All it takes is someone to come up with an idea, announce the date and time of the activity on OSC Happenings or the appropriate forum on the OSC website and go have fun!
